Emerald BioStructures offers a unique working environment for scientists. A world-class gene-to-structure scientific laboratory, we attract researchers from around the globe. We are dedicated to quality science, yet work in an informal atmosphere. Emerald BioStructures shares its facility with its sister company, Emerald BioSystems, which distributes protein crystallization supplies and instruments for structural proteomics.

Emerald Bio maintains facilities in Bainbridge Island, Washington, a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle and in Bedford, Massachusetts 25-minutes outside of Boston. Qualified candidates should send a CV and cover letter to jobs@embios.com.

Research Scientist / Protein Purification Core / Bainbridge Island

Bainbridge Island has an opening for a Research Scientist in our Protein Purification Core Lab. The successful candidate will be an individual that can perform duties in an independent fashion, but who can also collaborate and coordinate within the group and across other core lab functions.  The Research Scientist will be expected to perform advanced experiments, analysis and troubleshooting, and to participate in project meetings.  The role will also involve collaborating with other scientists and project managers to make recommendations for purification protocols, thus superior communication skills are essential.  The successful candidate will be energetic, efficient, and someone who will thrive in a high paced environment.  Other key attributes include the ability to carry out multiple experiments in parallel, as well as to be detailed oriented and to keep meticulous notes.  The Research Scientist is expected to mentor junior level individuals and to train others in all core lab activities.

 

Research Associate / Crystal Core / Bainbridge Island, WA

We have a Research Associate position in our Protein Crystallography laboratory (Crystal Core).  The ideal candidate will have experience in wet lab work, dexterity to work with fragile protein crystals, an interest in working with robotic machines, attention to detail and will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
 

Chief Scientific Officer (PhD), Bedford, MA

Reporting directly to the President, the Chief Scientific Officer is a highly motivated, scientific thought leader who will be responsible for leading the development of the scientific vision and supporting the market presence of the company.  The successful candidate will support a growing organization of dynamic, talented scientists and research associates and will be expected to provide leadership and direction for the scientific strategy of the Company.  He/she shall provide a professional and creative research environment through thought leadership, mentorship, and by driving successful programs to meet the company’s business and scientific objectives.  As a senior technical representative for the company, the CSO will be responsible for a combination of strategic and customer facing activities.

Group Leader /  Molecular Biology / Bainbridge Island, WA

We are seeking a talented and experienced Molecular Biologist to join a multi-disciplinary team focused at our Seattle area facility.  The successful candidate will lead a group responsible for the design and engineering of genes for expression and purification of recombinant proteins for use in biochemical assays, structural biology and other biophysical methods.  The candidate must have expertise in classical and contemporary molecular biology procedures for the expression of a broad range of protein types in a variety of prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems.
