Emerald BioStructures Appoints Diana R. Wetmore, Ph.D., Vice President, Business Development

Bainbridge Island, WA. April 22, 2010. Emerald BioStructures announced today that Diana R. Wetmore, Ph.D., has been appointed Vice President of Business Development and Alliances. Dr. Wetmore brings to Emerald extensive experience in business development, strategic planning and project management in the biotechnology field.
“Diana’s prior business development successes make her an ideal fit as we continue to pursue partnerships with organizations that need help solving their important drug discovery challenges,” said Lance Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of Emerald BioStructures. “Emerald BioStructures has achieved significant success in X-ray crystallography and structure-based design and Diana’s efforts will broaden our reach.”
As a business development professional with a background and interest in science, Dr. Wetmore will provide the company strategic leadership. “I was attracted to Emerald BioStructures not only for the opportunity to spearhead its collaboration development efforts, but also for the strong science supporting its drug discovery platform,” said Dr. Wetmore.
Before joining Emerald BioStructures, Dr. Wetmore served as Vice President of Alliance Management at Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, the not-for-profit drug discovery arm of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she was responsible for strategic planning for therapeutic development, business development activities, portfolio development and project management. Previously, Dr. Wetmore served as Chief Technical Officer of Geneprot, Inc., where she was responsible for technical operations, managing the biochemistry and chemistry departments, as well as managing partner discovery programs and R&D projects. Dr. Wetmore also held several roles of increasing responsibility at Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals (now Anadys Pharmaceuticals) and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Structural Biology Department of DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co. She has served as a consultant to the National Institutes of Cancer, the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Dr. Wetmore holds a Ph.D. and a B.S. from the University of Calgary.
