Emerald was founded in 1998, with the vision of being a world leader in the business of structural biology research and technology products. Our CEO, Dr. Lance Stewart co‐founded the company after completing his training in protein X‐ray crystallography in the laboratory of Dr. Wim G.J. Hol at the University of Washington. The company initiated its operations on beautiful Bainbidge Island, WA so as to recruit talented researchers with an interest in Northwest community living. Indeed, many of our Ph.D. Crystallographers and scientists were trained in the laboratories of mentors in the Seattle area. We have grown much larger now but still enjoy our Bainbridge Island location, which now houses a world class gene‐to‐structure technology platform. Our labs have directly contributed to the collaborative discovery of five small molecules that are either in or about to enter human clinical trials for treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease, and even rare familial disorders such as spinal muscular atrophy. We work with pharmaceutical companies all over the world big and small, research institutions, private foundations, and government agencies. Our staff is dedicated to customer satisfaction.
