Protein Purification Lab

Our high-throughput protein purification lab purifies a broad range of proteins including secreted, soluble, and membrane proteins. Because of the complexity of our proteins, we constantly determine new methods of purification and increase the quality of proteins for crystallization (>95% purity). The Protein Maker™ instrument from Emerald BioSystems can run 24 to 48 different columns in parallel to rapidly purify many different proteins in parallel or purify a single protein by many different methods (purification scouting).

Technologies

At Emerald BioStructures, we generate hundreds of structures for drug discovery projects and structural genomics initiatives. The Protein Maker™ workstation, innovated by our sister company Emerald BioSystems, performs high throughput protein purification running 24 chromatography columns (1-5 ml) in parallel. This instrument allows us to evaluate expression levels, study different isotypes or clones, and determine the best purification method for scaling up.
